Once Rough, Now Smooth-ISH
Hello everyone,
I have missed talking to you all! I am missing the mini beach vacays my husband and I sneak in every so often. Something about being there with him gives me so much peace? Do you have that special place you like to escape to? I can never decide if I love the beach or the mountains more, but there is one thing I know I can't get in the mountains and that's SEA GLASS.
Have you every oogled and awed over how beautiful sea glass is? I have always viewed it as a coveted beach find and every time I go, I scour the sand looking for a piece, but always end coming up short handed.
My aunt has the best luck when finding sea glass and I love seeing all the pictures of the pretty blues and greens she finds on her trips. We ended up stopping by their place the last time we went down to the beach and she was sweet enough to take us to her own private little paradise that was full of sea glass and beautiful seashells. I was giddy when I picked up my first piece. We spent some time out there enjoying each other's company while we wandered the beach picking up all the pretty colors. I was super thankful for that afternoon, not just because I was able to start my sea glass collection, but because JT and I got to spend one on one time with our aunt and uncle, away from all the hustle and bustle of life and work and be present with each other.
As I held the first piece in my hand, it felt smooth and almost soft. Not how glass should feel at all. All of us are basically pieces of glass in the human form. We all have sharp, rough edges that can hurt others if they handle us wrong. We get lost so easily like glass does in the ocean, but the sea and the sand take the glass and create this smooth texture. Did you know it can take sea glass up to 100 years to wash up on a beach with it's new shape and texture? That amazes me! I hope it doesn't take me 100 years to smooth out all of my rough edges. Just like the sand, God works on us to smooth out our sharp edges.
I know that God has picked me up off the floor and noticed that I have taken on a different shape since I recommitted to Him. He notices that you have too. Just continue to let of the sands of life work on the edges so you can become a beautiful piece of God's handiwork.
XO,
Az
