Cow Belle-Ruger
After Storm I had some down time before the next calf. Funny enough Storm and and my next calf had the same momma.
Ruger. Rue as I liked to call him was my baby. He was the prettiest calf I had ever seen and he knew just how pretty he was too 😊. He was buff in color and I immediately fell in love. You couldn't seperate us. I was always in the pen with him, talking to him, brushing him. He was absolutely spoiled! Rue had only one flaw, he was a fence jumper. He didn't think he ever needed to be in the pen and I would usually get a call from a family member saying they saw him touring the farm. Here is where my infamous blue bucket comes in to play 😉. If there was one thing my boy loved, it was that blue bucket that he thought was full of milk. He would see me come into view, run towards me and follow me back into the pen every time. He was a sucker for that blue bucket!
When Rue was about 6 months old he got a pen mate named Dolly. I had never had two calves at once and I was super nervous how they would act around one another. Ruger was the best and treated Dolly like his little sister unless the blue bucket was involved and then it was every man for himself!
Ruger was my most tame calf I had and the one I was most attached to. I will never forget the day I lost him. It was in November of 2014 and I had gone to a Young Farmers and Ranchers meeting. When I got home I stopped at my parents house. My parents had to tell their little girl that her pet cow had passed away. It was a horrible, gut wrenching pain. I couldn't believe it. He was fine when I left and 2 hours later he was gone. (If anything ever happens to Harlow, y'all are probably going to have to commit me!) Ruger was the most special cow that I have ever loved. He was sweet, docile, loved to be brushed, and take pictures! I sure do miss him! Insert all the heart eyes 😍. Without further ado, I proudly introduce Ruger!
