This Little Light of Mine
This is a dark world we live in. I believe it is going to continue to grow darker and that is why it is more important than ever to be a light. Being a light is a combination of spreading the word of Christ and being Christ like. God wants every single person in this world to know and believe in Him. It is one of our duties on Earth as Christians to spread the word of God so that all may know Him. In Mark 16:15 it says, “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'”
Trust me, I will be the first one to admit that it is hard to be a light when there is so much darkness. Especially when you don't want to judged by others for your beliefs or even labeled. I use to be so concerned with how uncool I would look of be if I praised God publicly or out loud. Why, do you ask? I ask myself the same question because I was foolish not to. I think of possibly how many people I could have helped to know Jesus by now if I had been a light all along.
In Matthew 28:19-20 it says, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Jesus was telling His disciples to go out into the nations and continue the work He had started while He was on Earth. I know it is scary to be a disciple in a time like this, but what Jesus said in Matthew still holds true to this day, "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Do not be worried, God is with you and wants to use you to share His word with anyone who will listen. He will give you the strength you need to be a light in a dark place.
