"Courage, Dear Heart"
I want to give you a little back story to my name and what it means to me.
Could you imagine a world without Narnia and Middle-Earth? If you don't know what I'm talking about then we can't be friends. Just kidding! We can be friends, but I'm going to teach you all about Narnia and Middle-Earth. If it wasn't for C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien those two worlds would have never existed. The two became friends at Oxford and became authors who wrote some very noteable books like The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings.
Lewis wrote The Chronicles of Narnia which is made up of seven novels written between 1950-1956. One of the main characters is Aslan and is the only character to appear in all seven novels. Lewis creates the mythical world of Narnia and Aslan was written to represent Jesus Christ. Aslan in Turkish means "lion" hence Aslan portraying a lion in the books.
Talk about a name to live up to! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my name, but when I think of a lion I think of something corageous that stands up to what others fear. After 27 years I feel like I'm finally coming into my own and what I think I'm suppose to do. I'm no longer running from who I am, but rather embracing all the imperfections and flaws that make me who I am. God gives me the courage to write and I pray He continues to give me the words to continue on this journey.
